Hip Pocket has been playing our brand
of Blues and classic rock since 1986 out of our home
base of Central Illinois. Members may have changed over
the years, 38 to be exact, however the classic Chicago
Blues sound still lingers in all the music we play.
We have shared the stage with some
of greatest performers of true American Music including;
BB King, Etta James, Marcia Ball, Delbert McClinton,
Duke Robillard, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Albert King,
Deanna Bogart, Freddy Cole, Luther and Bernard Allison,
Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows, Blood Sweat and Tears,
Ohio Players, Marshall Tucker, Roy Rogers, the late
Jeff Healy, Stanley Jordon, Greg Piccolo, and countless
others.
We have performed at 3 Presidential
Inaugurations, hundreds of Club dates; have recorded
5 CDs and have a double DVD that chronicles our first
16 years; we’ve played hundreds of weddings and
special events and we still have more to go.
We span the genres of blues and rock because it’s
what we know. It all makes ultimate sense in the long
run as we weave our way through blues standards like
“Mustang Sally” or “Hey Bartender”
then hit you with rock classics like “Rocky Mountain
Way” and “Vehicle”.
We have come to the conclusion that you play to your
strengths regardless and we just happen to like the
music we play and hope that you will, too. No matter
what you call it, the music will draw you to the dance
floor and you will not forget or regret the time you
spend with us.
We certainly haven’t been around this long because
of our good looks and charm, it’s because we play
great tunes and we sound damn good doing it. Your ears
won’t bleed after our show and you will have a
great time listening, dancing, and forgetting about
the world outside for a few hours and that’s why
we do what we do.
